Will I pay customs or import charges on a Makli order?

It depends where it is going. To most EU addresses, no: every maker on Makli is established in the EU, so the parcel moves within the single market and never crosses a customs border. There is no import duty, no import VAT to settle on delivery and no carrier handling fee. A few EU territories sit outside the EU VAT area, the Canary Islands, Aland and the French overseas departments among them, and a parcel there does clear customs and can attract local charges collected by the carrier on arrival. To the United States or Canada, yes: the parcel crosses a border, and your own country may charge import VAT or duty before it is delivered. That is collected by the carrier or postal service, never by Makli or the maker.

Why do parcels from outside the EU cost extra on delivery?

Because they cross a customs border. Import VAT is charged on arrival, duty may apply above certain values, and carriers add a handling fee for doing the paperwork. Those charges land on the buyer, often unexpectedly and after the item has already been paid for.

Is the price I see the price I pay?

For an EU address, yes: the total at checkout includes delivery and nothing further is collected on arrival. A few EU territories sit outside the EU VAT area and can work differently. For an address outside the EU, the checkout total covers the item and its delivery, and any import charges are separate and paid to your own customs authority on arrival. We cannot tell you that amount, because it depends on your country and on what you bought; your national customs website can.
