What does it cost to sell on Makli?

Makli charges one commission on the goods in an order. Delivery is not part of what it is calculated on. There are no listing fees, no monthly or subscription charges, no payout fees and nothing to pay to open a shop. You only pay when you sell something.

How much is the commission?

Makers who joined on or before 31 July 2026 pay 5 per cent for as long as they sell on Makli. Founding makers, meaning anyone whose application reaches us on or before 31 March 2027, pay 5 per cent for their first 12 months and 10 per cent after that. Anyone who applies later pays 10 per cent from the start. Which one you are is decided by the day your application arrives, not the day we finish reviewing it.

Are there any other fees?

No. Stripe charges a fee to process each payment and Makli pays it out of the commission, so it never reaches you: your payout is what the buyer paid, less our commission and nothing else. Because commission is not charged on delivery, the delivery figure does have to be what delivery actually costs, rather than a way to pay less commission by moving part of the price of the piece into postage.
