What does it cost to sell handmade goods on Makli?

What a maker pays to sell on Makli: one commission on the goods, no listing fees and no monthly charge. Makli absorbs the card processing fee.

What does it cost to sell on Makli?

Makli charges one commission on the goods in an order. Delivery is not part of what it is calculated on. There are no listing fees, no monthly or subscription charges, no payout fees and nothing to pay to open a shop. You only pay when you sell something.

How much is the commission?

Makers who joined on or before 31 July 2026 pay 5 per cent for as long as they sell on Makli. Founding makers, meaning anyone whose application reaches us on or before 31 March 2027, pay 5 per cent for their first 12 months and 10 per cent after that. Anyone who applies later pays 10 per cent from the start. Which one you are is decided by the day your application arrives, not the day we finish reviewing it.

Are there any other fees?

No. Stripe charges a fee to process each payment. Makli pays it out of the commission. It never reaches you. Commission is not charged on delivery. So the delivery figure has to be what delivery actually costs. It is not a way to pay less commission by moving part of the price of the piece into postage.

Is there VAT on the commission?

Yes, unless the reverse charge applies. Makli is a Danish company. Its commission carries Danish VAT at 25%. If you are registered for VAT in another EU country and VIES confirms your number, there is none. You account for it in your own country instead. From the date in our Maker Terms notice, the VAT is added on top of the commission. Until then, Makli pays it out of the commission. You receive an invoice for the commission and the VAT on it.
