Can I ship outside the EU?

Yes, once you turn it on. Open Shipping in your dashboard and you will find the option there. It is off until you do, on purpose. When you set your shipping to all countries, all countries meant the twenty-seven we sold to at the time. Deciding on your behalf that it now means something larger would be us changing a choice you made, so it waits for you to make it again.

What happens to my prices?

Buyers outside the EU pay the same price as buyers in the EU. Makli does not take VAT off your price. If you are VAT registered, a sale you send to the United States or Canada is normally exempt from VAT, so no VAT is due on it, as long as you can show the parcel left the EU. Keep the order, your proof of postage and the tracking. Receipts for these orders show no VAT. Do not add any, because a receipt that shows VAT can make you liable for it. If you are not VAT registered, nothing changes for you. Your accountant can tell you how to report these sales.

What do I have to do differently?

One thing. A parcel leaving the EU needs a customs declaration, and your carrier will ask you to complete one, either at the counter or when you buy the label online. You state what is inside, what it is worth and the country it was made in. We cannot do this part for you, because the declaration is signed by whoever sends the parcel. If it is missing or wrong, the parcel is usually delayed, sometimes returned to you, and your buyer can be charged more than they expected. This also catches a few addresses that look domestic. The Canary Islands, Aland and the French overseas departments are in EU countries but sit outside the EU VAT area, so a parcel to Tenerife or Mariehamn needs the same declaration as one to Toronto.

Which countries can I ship to?

The 27 EU countries always. The United States and Canada once you have turned it on. The United Kingdom, Switzerland and Norway are closed for now. That is not an oversight and not about you: in those countries Makli would owe the tax on your sale rather than you, and that needs registrations we do not have yet. When we have them, they open.
